THE Mommy
I used to be an event coordinator in my pre-Mommy days. I was unattached and free to travel the world at a moment’s notice. It was pre-9/11 and I had zero anxiety about flying. I would stay at the best hotels and schmooze, schmooze, schmooze. *Sigh* those were the days. Long ago, I accepted that fact that those days were O-ver and that I traded them in for being CEO of Our Household while making a little cash on the side being a work-from-home, pajama-wearing Internet Researcher (yep, my actual title) for a start up company. I'm not complaining (much) about my current gig, I've got it good...really...but sometimes I miss who I used to be.
Well, guess what?! I’m about to dust off my suitcase and trade in my pjs for business casual attire….
I’m headed to Vegas, baby! To a little Expo called Blog World. Heard of it?! Literally just found out this morning that we’re setting up a booth and I get to go. I leave in less than 24 hours!
It’s going to be a total whirl wind adventure. I arrive incredibly late tomorrow evening, will be working at the booth all day Thursday and Friday, and have to catch a red-eye back on Friday night. Despite the possibility for getting zero sleep, I am very excited to:
* have adult conversations…for 2 entire days
* read a book on the airplane…something that doesn’t have a Princess main character and/or also come as a “board book”
* OH, and I get to sleep in a hotel room…ALL BY MYSELF!!!!
Sooo, I spent the day purchasing a few new clothing items because I don’t really have much left that fits from back then. Two kids can ruin a size 4-6 body. It’ll take me all day tomorrow to pack and get things organized enough to leave the kids for a couple of days. But the whole sleeping without kids and dogs and a snoring husband makes it SOOO worth it.

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get online, so I’m not real sure if I’ll be able to post while on the road. Good thing I didn’t do the whole NaBloPoMo thing. I’d be hating life right now!
I’m leaving on a jet plane…don’t know when I’ll be back again… Crap! Those are the only words I know to the song!

Oh I am jealous! I have a friend who will be there with his company. I love Vegas (I can walk around with a beer in my hand ANYWHERE in the city!!). I wish I could go. Have fun and enjoy your well-deserved little hiatus from parenthood.
