I am a HUGE New England Patriots fan. I know, they are the team to hate right now…but I was a fan before Spy Gate, before Tom Brady and before they won 3 Super Bowls.
We were given 4 tickets to the Patriots game on Sunday against the Jets. These are quite possibly THE most sought after tickets in all of New England right now. There is a lot of bad blood between the Pats and Jets. Hello Spy Gate. The Pats are going to squash them. We are 13-0 and close to an undefeated season. I SO want to be there. It’s history in the making.
Oh, and the free tickets…they also come with free food and drinks in a VIP tent prior to the game.
The problem?
We leave at 4am on Monday morning for our 3 week vacation in Aruba. We are taking a 5 and 2 year old out of the country for 3 weeks. Over Christmas. It’s a 5 hour flight. Even if you can't get over the whole Aruba for 3 weeks envy, you've got to feel for the mom challenge at hand? Right?
The stadium is about 2 ½ hours away from our house. In good weather. They’re talking about a huge Nor’easter hitting Saturday into Sunday.
This means that we would be gone ALL DAY the day before we leave. And we’ll be sitting in the cold and snow for over 3 hours. I hate cold. I hate snow. Then the drive home afterwards. Could be impossible.
We gave BamBam’s teacher 2 of the tickets. Totally made her Christmas. We’re debating giving her the other 2 as well. The mommy in me says that it is just too much to take on the day before we leave the country for 3 weeks. The pre-mommy me SO WANTS TO GO.
My husband has been feeding the mommy all week…trying to talk me out of going. I caved and said that it was probably too much and we should do the responsible thing and stay home.
Then he sent me this email:
Come on Sally, we’re going to the game unless it’s already snowing heavily before we leave. We can pack tonight, tomorrow or Saturday. Sleep poolside or beachside. We do have baby sitters in AUA, ones that are anxious to see the little ones. XO
Oh no. He didn’t.
He might as well have double dog dared me.
Sally?! My ass!
Game on, baby, game on!
Watch for me in the stands on the 40 yard line. Think warm, dry thoughts...please?

Ahh I remember Aruba! Honeymooned at the Bucuti resort (not child friendly). But they do a "Bucuti-cam" every 5minutes or so. Pretty cool, check it out www.bucuti.com
Watched it on TV right? I hope so, it looked miserable there and the Jets? Bah! They are lame and I knew the Pats would kill 'em.
