In celebration of my 100th post, here are 100 things about THE Mommy. Hopefully you will learn something new.
- Mother to 5 year old Princess and 2 year old BamBam
- Currently live in THAT, Rochester, NH
- Would love to move to Charleston, SC or Dallas, TX
- Been married to THE Daddy for 6 ½ years, together for 10 ½ years…time flies
- Love the word and the movie “Serendipity”
- Addicted to Starbucks since they moved to town a couple of months ago.
- I got gel nails put on for my friend wedding in September and have kept them ever since.
- I like my in-laws…apparently that is abnormal
- Actually built a house in Aruba with my in-laws
- Lived in their basement apartment at the time
- BamBam’s middle name is our Aruban best friend’s last name
- Will be spending 3 weeks in Aruba around Christmas and New Years this year
- I never used to get anxious before flying, until 9/11
- Love living in NH for 8 ½ months of the year
- Hate winter…cold, snow, ice all suck.
- Driving my car into a tree during a small snow storm reinforced my hate for winter
- Coach high school softball at my old high school
- Won the State Championship in 2007
- Donated Stem Cells to a 21 year old stranger with leukemia
- Swear the process has made my own immune system stronger
- Got food poisoning from Ethiopian food in France the night before being the Matron of Honor in my cousin’s wedding
- Got e-coli in Aruba after eating their traditional goat soup on New Years Day
- (my favorite number)
- Not so adventurous with food these days
- Love to cook and entertain
- Have a full-sized bar in our basement
- We even have beer on tap
- I don’t drink beer
- I promised God when I was 16 that I would never drink beer again
- Apparently she was listening and has forced me to keep my promise
- Was in a sorority in college (Kappa Delta)
- Left just 3 classes shy of my degree
- I kept getting sick…they said I had “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome”. I thought that was a BS diagnosis.
- Never lived in the sorority. I hate how catty girls can be.
- I get along much better with guys.
- My favorite t-shirt when I was little read Anything boys can do, girls can do better
- I wish I still had that shirt
- On that note, LOVED the movie Gracie
. She reminds me of myself in the 70's...all attitude.
- I’m still friends with a lot of the guys from my high school days.
- I defy their theory that men and woman cannot be just friends.
- It pisses one of them off, but makes me laugh
- Most of them have cool wives now
- Spent 9 weeks on bed rest when pregnant with BamBam
- Gestational diabetes saved me from gaining 100lbs while stuck in bed
- Being forced to stay in bed would be fun for a day or two now
- Anything good loses it’s appeal when you’re forced to do it for 9 weeks
- Met Bill and Hilary Clinton in 1995 while working at Ted Danson’s wedding rehearsal dinner on Martha’s Vineyard
- I found Bill Clinton to be very charismatic and that surprised me because I thought his personal choices made him a scum bag.
- Have seen BNL live at least 8 times
- First concert was Bon Jovi with Skid Row when I was 14
- Still think that Jon Bon Jovi is one of the only men still able to pull off leather pants...meow.
- If Jon Bon Jovi runs for governor of NJ, I might have to move there
- Princess can pick out Bon Jovi on the radio in a split second
- She’s my mini-me…with brown eyes
- My eyes are blue
- I have a sister one year older than me and a 13 year old step-sister
- The step-sister is “Auntie Em” to my kids
- My older sister just married our high school biology teacher
- He was my favorite teacher
- That was her third marriage
- My mom said, in front of my husband, at my sister’s 2nd wedding that she would give me money for my 2nd wedding too
- He’s never forgiven her for that
- I’m not friends with any of my ex-boyfriends
- Especially not the one I lived with just before meeting my husband
- He’s the one I caught calling phone porn numbers… before the days of internet porn
- He spoke with a phone whore for 30 minutes on my birthday
- While I was sleeping in the next room
- I moved in with my best friend and only looked back once
- I slept with him the night before he left on a 6 week safari in Africa
- To this day, I’m not sure why
- I waited for him to come home before really starting to date my husband
- I fell in love with my husband while waiting for the ex-boyfriend to come home
- We spent a lot of that time emailing and hanging out with mutual friends
- I firmly believe that communication is the most important thing in any relationship
- We have 2 dogs: Jasper the Australian Cattle Dog and Chester, the Australian Shepard
- Jasper had a bad reaction to a Lyme Disease vaccine and almost died
- We had to amputate his front toes in order to save him
- We have had success with chiropractic, homeopathic and herbal remedies for both our dogs and our children.
- We do not vaccinate our children
- We aren’t militant anti-vaccination parents
- We believe in freedom of choice
- We use a religious exemption for both Princess and BamBam’s schools
- Princess attends a Catholic school
- I held my breath when I submitted her exemption form…but was prepared to say, “Doesn’t your God believe in freedom of choice?”
- I went to 12 years of Catholic School, starting with the same school Princess attends
- Too many years to count of Sunday School at a Baptist and then a Congregational Church
- I was never baptized
- I consider myself more of a Deitist than anything else
- My political views are complex as well
- I lean more towards being a Democrat, although I’ll never fully declare allegiance to one party
- I’ve watched “Days of Our Lives” since I was 2 and my Grammy babysat us
- I still turn it on for background noise while I work from home
- I hate how the man who plays Roman was the old Chris Costacheck…and the woman who plays Bonnie Lockhart is the old Adrianne…and they recently brought her back as Adrianne. Gimme a break! I love Stephano though...and EJ is yummy in a bad boy kind of way
- The actress who plays Hope used to babysit my ex-boyfriend
- I have a horrible potty mouth and have all I can do not to swear in front of the kids sometimes.
- I don’t have any tattoos
- I once said I would get a tramp stamp on my lower back if I could get back into a size 6
- I’m stuck at a size 8 and doubt I’ll ever see 6 again
- I have always been, um, well endowed, but my breasts are ridiculous after having and breastfeeding 2 kids. I’m a solid D cup now…on a 5’4”, size 8 frame.
- When I get frustrated about my post-baby body, I try to remember how sick my little size 4 body was back in college. At least I’m healthy now.
Any surprises?
I'll try not to get all sentimental on you...wouldn't want to scare you away by being uncharacteristically mushy...BUT, thank you for reading and commenting. I really feel as if I have a forum where I can be myself, completely unfiltered. I love being a Mom and a Wife, but I get tired of having to be the adult all the time. The one who has to think before they speak. I try not to do that here, in case you hadn't noticed. It's refreshing. The fact that you keep coming back to read what I have to say is flattering. I love that I've met parents from all over the world...and we're all trying to accomplish the same thing...raise our kids in a crazy world without becoming one of the crazies ourselves.
