I mentioned in my “About Me” page that we have a second-home in Aruba. We built it with my in-laws the year we got married. They were looking for a retirement spot and we were saving up to build a house in New Hampshire. We were living in their basement apartment at the time. I took THE Daddy (then just THE Boyfriend) to Aruba for a vacation and we both fell in love with the area. Real Estate was considerably less expensive down there, so we took a gamble and put our money into building a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house with a pool. We LOVE it there. My in-laws get to go far more often than us, but we just booked a 3 week vacation for the end of the year. We’ve made friends with a family on the island…they have become like our second-family. BamBam’s middle name is actually their last name. We've even considered relocating there for a few years while the kids are young.
I stumbled across this post yesterday on a site called scaredmonkey. It really pissed me off.
First of all, holy crap, there were 3 water spouts in Aruba. That’s pretty scary. Luckily, no one got hurt.
But the author takes the angle that this natural weather phenomenon is “Justice for Natalee”, saying that because her case remains unsolved, the good people of Aruba deserve this. WTF?!?! THAT IS SO INGORANT. That’s like saying that the people of New Orleans deserved Hurricane Katrina because the police department hasn’t been able to solve a suspicious dissappearance case. There are plenty of botched and unsolved cases out there people, right here in the US.
I watched the whole Natalee Holloway disappearance in horror with the rest of the world. Yes, the Aruban police are bound by Dutch law instead of US law and may have handled things differently. Yes, they OFTEN came across as completely incompetent and dropped the ball more than a few times. It’s disgustingly frustrating that they have not solved this case. My gut says that Joran drugged her and she somehow died. He probably freaked and got rid of the “evidence”. He is scum. So is his judge father who probably coached him on how to dispose of her body. May their souls rot in hell for their part in her disappearance and probable murder.
My question is: Why do the good people of Aruba deserve anything bad to happen to them??? We know a number of good families who have lived on the island for generations. They are hard working, God-loving, families who would give a stranger in need the shirt off their backs. I understand the anger against the police and Joran, but please keep this in perspective. So many of these comments are spewing hate against a country like it’s an individual person. Spewing hate and ingorance is NOT going to bring Natalee back. You want to talk about KARMA...how about all the negative energy that the writers of (some of) these comments are putting out into the world?!
