Regular readers know that I started working from Aruba after my husband went back to NH on Jan 7th. I was pretty lax during the first three weeks down here. With the exception of checking email every now and then, neither of us actually did much in the way of working. For me, that equalled next to zero blogging. As it should be…we were here on a much needed vacation.

When I decided to stay here with the kids for almost a month longer, the number one stipulation was that I needed to find a way to work. I have the coolest job in the world and can work from anywhere that has an internet connection. I’ve been paying hourly at the café, so I haven’t been having much time to visit my favorite blogs. I have tried to stay up on almost daily posting and definitely have been getting in my work…while paying $15 for 8 hours. It adds up quickly, but that’s a small price to pay considering I get to stay in Aruba for a total of 6 ½ weeks this winter!

Luckily, my in-laws are here as well, so I have built in babysitters. My husband needed to take his work laptop back with him, therefore we arranged for me to use an Aruban friend’s laptop. Unfortunately, that plan didn’t work out so well due to technical difficulties, so I’ve been camped out at an internet café. One that doubles as a cigar shop. Yes, the owner smokes cigars while working. I’m kind of used to it now. I had no choice really. Until now.

My sister-in-law arrived yesterday for our last week here. AND…she brought me my brand new laptop. I could have ordered one and had it delivered last week, but then we would have ended up paying about 50% more in delivery and import charges. It just didn’t make sense knowing that she could carry it on the plane…for free.

I haven’t had my OWN computer since I worked full-time…that was before Princess was born. She’s 5 ½ now. Even then, the computer technically belonged to my boss. I obviously had to give it back to him when he closed the company and laid me off. Since then, I’ve shared a desktop at the house with my husband. We share nice…but it’s OURS.

This laptop is mine, mine, MINE! It’s a Dell Vostro 1500. He’s awesome. Yes, I’ve established that it’s a HE. I need to figure out a name for him. He’s my new love. Any suggestions? It has to be sexy.

(OK, a sexy laptop? Can you tell my husband has been in another country for 2 ½ weeks?! And that I sleep with either a 2 year old who kicks or a 5 year old who insists on sleeping with no covers…I must have covers when I sleep.)
