Breast Reduction Surgery
Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 03:48PM Yep, I’m considering it. Seriously.
I’ve always been, um, well endowed. Since having kids though, my breasts, they are gi-NORMOUS. The girls are quite heavy. They are usually well hidden behind mommy-friendly shirts. Every now and then though, I let them out on display...and they cause a bit of attention. They are extremely disproportionate to the rest of my body.
Oh, and my bras? Well, they look like they should be hanging on the wall of an Italian restaurant. No pretty little Victoria Secret decorative bras for me. Over the shoulder, boulder holder...much more accurate...much less attractive. There are many medical reasons why carrying around all that extra weight in my chest area isn't a great idea. Additionally, I've seen my future. My poor, late Grammy also had large breasts and when she was about 90, I had to help her get dressed. She literally had to pick them each up to place them into her bra. They were hanging out at about her navel. Like empty socks. *shudder*
Absorb that image for a moment. It's one that has been permanently burnt into my memory.
In an attempt to help you erase that image, I'll share a recent picture of me:
OK, so I'm not as tone as I used to be and could stand to lose 15 10 pounds. My waist, still little. I wear a size 8 pants. The rest of me really isn't big. Good thing I don't have to work in an office and dress up every day. Button up shirts SO don't fit over my rack. This dress was one of about 50 that I tried on at Kohl's. It was the only one that didn't make me look pregnant. Usually the ones that fit over the chest don't fit so good elsewhere.
Ironically, my neighbor wants to get breast implants. I told her we should go for a 2-fer. They can take from me and give to her. Personally, I think she's insane for wanting more. She and her husband think I'm insane for wanting less. My take? Wanting more is a cosmetic thing. Wanting less is more of a medical thing. I already see a chiropractor regularly. Pretty sure my insurance would cover the procedure.
My husband's take? Anything more than a handful is just a bonus. Yeah, I know, that is such a guy's response.
Anyone have experience with breast reduction surgery? Advice? Thoughts? Please share.

It is so ironic to me that women that have smaller ones want bigger ones and women with bigger ones want smaller ones. Is there medium size that will please everyone?
Whatever makes you feel better, do it! My sorority sister needs a breast reduction, too, because of painful fibroid tumors. I think insurance would pay for it if they're giving you back problems.
I think it is whatever works for you! Personally I can't imagine that big boobs would be all that great to carry around everyday.
I think you gotta do whatever you are led to do.
