Scooby and The Gang

So, BamBam's third birthday is fast approaching.  His current obsession is Scooby Doo.  Before my husband was laid off, we had talked about having a Scooby theme for his birthday party.  A few family members have offered to do things for the party instead of a gift that he probably doesn't need and won't remember...I'm all for it.  I'm so exhausted right now trying to deal with lawyers, job search stuff and increased work hours for me.  I'm spent and just can't wrap my brain around planning a party.

So...I'm asking for help.  Any ideas on how to throw a really cool Scooby Doo party for a 3 year old on a limited budget?  Our immediate family includes probably 40 people.  Yeah, I know, big family.  I'm planning the party for 2pm so that I don't feel the need to serve an actual meal, just apps, cake and ice cream.

Any ideas?

I am so jazzed up to help with this party.

I found some really cool ideas...

Scooby's Snack Search
Scooby's favorite food is missing. Can you help him hunt down his biscuits before snack time? Depending on the age of the children, hide Milkbone® dog biscuits throughout the house (or party area), in easy or harder to find locations. Give your searchers a sack to put their biscuits in and let them loose to collect as may as they can find.

Mummy Relay
Divide the children into teams. Each team picks "the mummy" and receives one or two rolls of toilet paper. The object of the game is to be the first team to completely wrap "the Mummy" with their rolls of toilet paper.
If you are entertaining younger children, select an adult to be the mummy and the kids can wrap him/her up together without playing as teams. If it's hot We can bring up the basket of squirt guns and shoot the mummy. I'm sure al will be willing...

Oh. Wow. Wifeofalby had some great idea. I suck at ideas. Or my ideas are really inappropriate. Like pass out weed a la Shaggy for the kids to smoke. Like that kind of inappropriate.

Let's see. You could make gingersnap cookies and box/bag them up as Scooby Snacks for kids to take home. I always equated Scooby Snacks with gingersnaps. I don't know why. Maybe have the kids make their own sandwiches like Shaggy and Scooby always did? Just set out meat/cheese/etc. and let them go at it! The tallest sandwich wins a prize?

That's all I've got. I'm spent. :)
