Pull ups at bed time
Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 06:03PM Princess is about to turn 6 and she is still wearing a pull up at night.
I KNOW.
Believe me when I say that her bladder is just not ready. When the summer started, she started to notice that some of her friends no longer need to wear a pull up to bed. She asked when she could stop wearing one. We made a deal that we would track her dry pull ups. If she goes 3 days in a row with a dry pull up, she would wear panties to bed instead the next night.
The summer is almost over and she has never gone more than 2 nights in a row without a wet one. She can't help it. She sleeps very deeply. Her dad was something like 10 before he stopped wetting the bed, so I pretty much wrote this one off as a battle to deal with later.
I think she had a healthy attitude about the subject...until BamBam started potty training.
You see, as soon as he started wearing big boy underpants during the day...VOILA. He started to wake up with a dry pull up as well. He goes on the potty first thing in the morning. He's gone as much as 5 days in a row without wetting his pull up. Yea, BamBam!
The problem? My little wise guy must have been listening to our conversations about his sister.
He held up his dry pull up one morning and says, right in front of her mommy, Meee big boy...my pull up is DRY. NOT Sissy. SHEee has wet pull up...she LIT-TLE Gir-wil!
I couldn't help but laugh!
But, ouch, baby, very ouch.
Princess is still smoking about it. Her 3 year old brother is giving her shit about not being able to stay dry all night.
And so begins the sibling rivalry: BamBam 1 / Princess 0.

Oh wow. Maybe that will help her! Motivation via annoying little sibling. When I was preggers with Bear we'd tell Shark he should finish his dinner so the baby would never be able to catch up to him. Worked more often than not!
Dude, can I borrow BamBam? Bubba's pull-ups are still wet at night, too. Sheesh. Kids!
Hey, sometimes a little trash talk is all you need to help you with that last mile! He's doing it out of love :)
Ouch! That's gotta hurt.
My oldest is 9 days shy of turning 8 and still has to wear a pull up too. He too is a very deep sleeper and his just doesn't wake up.
