Best and Worst of Times

For a long while the only time my extended family managed to all get together was for weddings.  We've had many.  Some of us more than one.

Now?  Funerals.

Which really sucks because I love seeing my cousins, aunts and uncles.  We all have so much in common, it's fun to get together and see each other's kids getting older...make fun of each other's accents...talk about crazy happenings at previous get-togethers.

Well, my family is coming to town this week.

My uncle had a massive stroke 2 weeks ago.  My aunt and uncle were retired and splitting their years between Maine and Florida.  They had just returned to Florida for the winter.

My uncle was BY FAR one of the nicest people I have ever known.  By far.  He will be missed by so many people, family and friends alike.

I can't wait to see my extended family.  I just wish it was for a happier occasion.  I catch myself being happy to pick my dad up at the airport today - then I stop to remember the reason why he's flying in.

So this week?  Will be the best of times.  And the worst of times.

If I go MIA, you've been warned.

Hope you enjoy your family even in light of why you're all gathered together. Much love, hon!
