For our wedding shower, our family and friends wrote words of wisdom to us in a small journal. I thought it would be fun to share some of the more colorful ones:
"You will have your ups and downs, just keep your hopes and dreams in perspective and remember to give me grandchildren to love and spoil" - Ashlie's mom
"I witnessed the beginning of your relationship (And my GOD, did it take you a long time to finally kiss her!) I'm looking forward to watching you grow together as a couple, as parents & later as grandparents" - Ashlie's best friend and maid of honor
"Never go to bed angry! Take one moment each day to count your blessings. Laugh a lot! Talk! Talk! Then talk some more!" - family friend.
"Make sure you take the time to enjoy the process, enjoy each other and dream your dreams" - Ashlie's life-long friend
"Marriage: love, sacrifice, give and take, laughter, tears, laundry, late nights, early mornings, dinner, movies, children...grandchildren, litter boxes, schedules, spontaneity, e-mail, yard work, extending family, friends...AND that's just the first week!!" Jake's sister
"Life is a scavenger hunt. You never know what or if you will actually find what you are looking for, but it is a lot of fun trying." Jake's other sister
"Always part on pleasant terms, 'fore we know not how the road ahead turns. Weather feeling happy, sad, angry or glad, Leave the moment like it is the last to be had." Ashlie's lifelong friend
"Although the laughter is mixed with tears, in the end you are always with your best friend" Jake's lifelong friend
and my favorite...
"Remember that greyhounds don't juggle balls (don't know if you remember that or not?)" Ashlie's other aunt [um, not so much, I need to ask her!]

Happy 8th Anniversary!
From the very beginning, you have always prepared in boy-scout fashion whenever you took me on an adventure: hiking, rock climbing, rafting, kayaking to Misery Island. Now that we're parents and home owners, our adventures have changed in nature, but I can always count on you to be prepared, even when I'm not. Looking forward to many more future adventures with you.
