Cotton's 2010 The Fabric of Our Lives Mall Campaign

I mentioned on Twitter that I worked at a really cool contract gig the last two weekends. I can finally tell you all about it.
I was the Assistant Manager for Cotton's 2010 The Fabric of Our Lives Mall Campaign here in Newington, NH at the Fox Run Mall.
Cotton? Like, the fiber?
Exactly.
We all know that Cotton is used in clothing and other products. But, did you know that Cotton, Incorporated is actually a not-for-profit organization? I'll admit, I didn't know that.
They are funded by the US growers of upland cotton, which is the type of cotton primarily grown in the US. According to their website:
From agricultural, fiber and textile research, market information and technical services, to advertising and public relations, fashion forecasts and retail promotions, we keep one goal in mind: To ensure that cotton remains the first choice among consumers in apparel and home products.
They were created in 1970 to combat loss of market share due to consumers' infatuation with synthetic fibers. They actually have a really funny section of their website dedicated to Mystery Fabric. Some of the stories shared by consumers are hilarious. Worth a peek.
Anyhow, back to the Mall Campaign. They are setting up a two sided pod in 15 malls this fall. One side of the pod contains The Closet that represents the Cotton styles of featured artists Colbie Caillat and Leona Lewis. Check out their versions of Cotton's "The Fabric of Our Lives" jingle:
Good luck not singing those all day now. You're welcome.
Here's a picture of me in The Closet:
The Closet side of the pod is pretty cool in and of itself. However, I personally think the exciting part is the Recording Studio side of the pod.
Cotton is holding a contest where eligible participants can create their own music video and be entered into The Fabric of My Life Song Contest. The grand prize is pretty impressive and includes a trip to NYC, spending money, shopping spree with a Cotton stylist and time in a recording studio. See their website for official rules and prize information.
If the Mall Campaign doesn't come to your area, but you would like to enter the contest. No worries. They will be allowing people to record a video from their home computer and upload it to TheFabricOfOurLives.com for a chance to win.

I had fun being a part of this campaign. My regular readers know that before becoming a mom I worked in the events industry. This contract job satisfied the urge I get every now and then to get back into events without taking Mommy away from the family full-time.
This is not a sponsored post. I was paid hourly to work at the mall on the Cotton Campaign. They did not compensate me for writing about it.

It looks like the campaign went well for you! While I sing only to punish people, I would've loved to hear the other people give it a whirl!
I just came across this post and wanted to give you some great news. My curiosity took over and I took my chances at that location at the Fox Run Mall and believe it or not...I'm a finalist!!! The video will be posted on January 31st for consumers to vote...wish me luck!
This is a really cool looking campaign and it sounds like it went well. Any ideas on a campaign like this for a fabric awning company?
