The bane of my existence. I swear it breeds behind closed doors. And don't even get me started on The Funk. You know, when you forget to switch from washer to dryer right away and a nasty, mildew smell permeates the entire load? This happens in our house more than I like to admit.
I want my laundry to smell nice. Not funky. Also not all perfumey and overwhelming. Just...nice and clean. So when Purex offered bloggers the opportunity to join their Insiders team, it caught my attention. I love reviewing great products AND will do anything to make the chore of doing laundry easier or more enjoyable.
The first product: Purex Complete Crystals Softener.
I'll be honest here, I have sensitive skin. I tend to gravitate towards laundry products that are scent and dye free. I don't even bother with any sort of liquid fabric softener. So when I first opened the the Complete Crystals Softener, I wasn't sure if this product would be for me. Then I started reading. I was intrigued.
this product’s unique crystal form works differently than traditional oil-based softeners that coat fabrics with oily residue, because it infuses fibers with long-lasting fragrance
This isn't an oil-based product. It won't coat my clothes. So, I thought, OK. I'll give it a try.
I'm glad I did. My sensitive skin had no issues. No itching. No rash. Nothing. I was given a sample of the Fresh Spring Waters. I really like the scent. My clothes smelled fresh and clean all day, but not in a way that was overpowering. I still could have worn perfume and had it not conflict. I like it.
Purex Complete Crystals Softener comes in two other scents: Lavender Blossom and Tropical Splash. It is priced from $3.99 to $5.99, depending on retailer. You can now find it in most food, drug and mass retailers nationwide.
I like to offer both pros and cons in my reviews. The con I have for this product is more from a marketing standpoint than about the product itself. Purex says that Complete Crystals Softener is "92% natural". They even offer a nice, little button we can use within our posts to highlight that fact.
Now, I like my green products and DO seek out natural more than not. However, it leaves me wondering...what is the other 8% that is NOT natural? Really, I would use this product without any sort of "natural" mention. I would. I know they are trying to attract people looking for natural products, but in fact I fear they are actually turning them away. I can see promoting something that is 99% natural or even 98%...but 92%? Kinda odd.
Anyhow. If you would like to try out Purex Complete Crystals Softener for yourself, keep reading.
