The one where Coach Kim gets sucked in

I can't help myself. Really.
Told myself coming into this summer that 10 weeks of spring softball is enough for my family to endure. You see, during those 10 weeks, Mom is distracted... nay... consumed by softball. The kids' needs are met, but just about everything else falls by the wayside. My husband clearly picks up my slack, gotta love him.
So here I am.
It's summer. I agreed to help out the varsity coach coming into the summer with a local U-16 team because his daughter was getting married and he wouldn't be able to commit to one of the tournaments. I thought "OK, I can help with just one weekend. Not a big deal."
That sounds like an alcoholic trying to convince himself that just one drink won't knock him off the wagon. Right?
*sigh*
I went to that one tournament. These girls had never played all together and came in 3rd. They are good. They are fun. They exude great sportsmanship. I felt myself getting sucked back in and joked about it on Twitter and Facebook.
Well, I suppose I could help with one or two weekends in July...
While I was a Type A Conference last weekend, they qualified for the NSA Fast Pitch World Series down in Chattanooga, TN. That's a pretty big deal and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of these girls to play outside of New England and in front of potential college coaches.
Wow!
The problem?
Money. Isn't that always a problem?
We have about 3 weeks to raise funds to get these girls down to Tennessee. We're all reaching out to our contacts with sponsorship opportunities - from standard ads on a banner in the dug out to a yard sale... to other more creative new media ideas. That's where I come in. SO on it.
For starters, I set up a PayPal account to collect money from our online friends and family. Those who won't see us with cans outside of our local store or be able to attend a car wash or yard sale locally can still help out. Consider this me tagging in your local area. 2011 style.
If you have a spare $1, $5, whatever this week, please consider supporting a great group of young women looking to make a dream come true.
Want to help?
Go to PayPal and they will walk you through the quick and easy process. When asked for an email account to receive the $$, this is it: doverxtreme@gmail.com.
We have a tax ID number, if you need one. If you give us a way to contact you, the girls will send you a personalized thank you card.
Don't have $$ to spare? I completely understand. This economy bites. Feel free to send emails of support to doverxtreme@gmail.com or just give a shout out in the comments on this post. That will go a long way as well :)

And looky here... the local paper just wrote about the team:
