Woke up IN ARUBA at 7am after full night sleep.
ok, I could just stop there...but...
Ate outdoors at favorite breakfast spot.
Went to the beach with the kids.
Waved to Bonaire for Heather (CMGD).
Despite busy beaches, scored a sheltered hut to hang out under.
Breathed plenty of fresh air.
Felt warm sun on skin.
Swam in warm, salty ocean.
Siesta.
Hung out with friends.
Discussed possible job opportunity in Aruba for the Daddy.
Went for Pizza where they have indoor kid’s play land.
Ate ham because I'm going to hell anyway.
Exhausted. Happy. Everyone in bed by 8:30pm.
I am going to be with BamBam by myself on the flight to Aruba Wednesday. Hoping that these make the trip pass a little quicker:
OK, so George of the Jungle is more for me. Brendan Fraser in a loin cloth...meow.

According to Aruba Today:
The Office of the Public Prosecutor of Aruba has intensified its investigation of the case of Natalee Holloway due to recently received information. This information may shed a new light in the possibility of which Natalee Holloway has died and the method by which her body disappeared. The Public Prosecutor has recently received this information from the Dutch crime reporter Peter R. de Vries. This information may help considerably in the solution of the mystery of Natalee’s disappearance.
Aruba-Zone.com also says:
The dutch crimereporter Peter de Vries has announced that he has solved the Natalee Holloway case after doing a undercover camera investigation.
Unlike last time, there is actually buzz in the US news as well.
I haven’t heard from my friends in Aruba yet. I am back home in the US now. I was watching the season premiere of Lost last night and my jaw hit the floor when I saw an advertisement for a 20/20 interview with Peter deVries to be run on Monday night at 9:30pm. It is titled “The Final Hours of Natalee Holloway”.
I’m not sure if this is new evidence, or if the investigation into the previous allegations dug up something. It appears that Joran Van der Sloot doesn’t like Peter de Vries so much. Look at him throwing wine at him off air after an interview on Dutch TV recently.
According to TODAY, Natalee’s mother, Beth, is reportedly convinced that this new evidence is the real deal. This is the only article that mentions what the evidence is. They claim that it is video of Van der Sloot admitting that he was there when she died and that he admits to disposing of her body.
This supposed video will air on Dutch TV on Sunday night. This time, I’m sure that the US will cover it.
I really hope that there is finally closure in the case and she can rest in peace.
Well, there you have it.
It's a confession. But still no body. Still a lot of missing pieces to the puzzle. I guess we'll never really know what happened.
We just got back from our 6.5 weeks in Aruba last night. We flew into Boston and had to stop for dinner and drive another 1.5 hours to New Hampshire. THE Daddy picked us up at the airport and we were very excited to see him.
A few observations:
The obvious is DAMN it’s cold here!
My brain wanted to explode last night. Being transplanted from the serenity of Aruba to a city where traffic was driving 70+ mph swerving in and out…all the while seeing the lights and the buildings. Very over-stimulating.
It feels strange to enter an environment again where everyone speaks just English…and they all speak so quickly! I actually asked for “awa” at dinner instead of water and said “danki” at least once accidentally instead of thank you. I remember having this problem the last time I spent 5 weeks there. I can’t remember how long it lasted.
(At 3:30pm…where was my sangria/margarita and why was I not hanging by the pool...reality check)
My Honda Odyssee kicks ass over the shit box we rented for my last week there. It was a little foreign Chevy thing. A standard where the clutch point was so high that I would hit my knee on the dash. And the gerbils running the engine were gasping for their last breaths.
I am back to a life that expects me to juggle 20 balls in the air at once. Thank God I decided to take today off with the kids. We seriously need to acclimate a bit. Princess will start kindergarten tomorrow for a ½ day and BamBam will start preschool on Monday. We are booked solid for the next 4 days.
There is a certain energy here. I don’t know if it is the way of life or if people are just so cooped up inside because it’s so cold. Everyone seems hyped up a notch or two. Maybe that’s my lack of Starbucks addiction…I wonder how long it will take before I drive thru for my first latte?
Any advice on how to wrestle a 2 year old into multiple layers of clothing? He already tried to take his shirt off at the restaurant so that he wouldn’t get it “old”…BamBam speak for “dirty”. Note to self: Start that BamBam dictionary. He speaks such a weird mix of English, Spanish, Papiamento and BabyTalk. Nobody is going to understand the poor kid!
Another question. How do I get Princess to refrain from telling her (Catholic School) teachers that she wants to be a Hooters girl when she grows up?! We went there for dinner one night to take a follow up picture of BamBam with the girls. He had one taken when he was a baby and I had requests for another. In her defense, they were very sweet and taught her how to hoola hoop.
I'm still here in Aruba and I must say that the local news last night was very, very interesting.
There was an American couple claiming that they were hired by Beth (Twitty) Halloway a couple of weeks after Natalee disappeared. They made some startling claims. I was hoping to find something to back up my memory so that I could give you the "facts" as they gave them, but I can't find anything ANYWHERE online. I can't even find the news footage on YouTube, go figure.
I'm at a complete loss as to why this hasn't been plastered ALL OVER the US news. I can't even find a slight mention of it anywhere. The MSM has historically acted like vultures when information breaks in this case. I find it almost criminal for them NOT to report on this. Especially if it proves to be true. They have no problem destroying the reputation of a 17 year old boy, but don't report on the family secrets. Something isn't right here.
Forgive me if I don't get ALL the "facts" 100% as reported. I am strictly going by memory.
This couple claims:
-Natalee's mother arrived on Aruba earlier in the evening of her disappearance. No, not after she disappeared...but the day OF her disappearance. They claimed that immigration had her arriving at something like 8pm that evening. A record that should easily be validated.
-Natalee was sexually abused by her stepfather and was actually running away.
-The Van der Sloot family did take her in and were helping her run away.
-They showed the first flyer to hit the island. Well before the "kidnapped" flyer that we all saw in the US. It shows that the mother was reaching out to beg her daughter to call her. It never used the words "kidnapped" or "murdered".
-They claim that Natalie did die of a drug overdose about 2 weeks after her initial disappearance.
(UPDATE: They also claim that she was pregnant...by her step father!)
The reporter looked completely taken aback by what the couple was saying...as if she didn't really know all the details before interviewing them live. They later had the Minister of Justice call in to say that they would be further investigating these claims in the morning.
I wish I had the name of this couple. They said that their motivation for coming forward NOW stemmed from Beth (Twitty) Holloway going on Oprah yesterday. Also that the book that she wrote was full of lies and they couldn't let her get away with it.
What's creepy is that the only clip I saw of the Oprah show was one where she admits that she has dated John Ramsey...Jon Benet Ramsey's father. Guess they have a lot in common.
This couple on the Aruban news claims to have recordings of all of their conversations with the parents and any other people that they interviewed. They named a few people within the investigation who supposedly know more than they have let on.
I'm not sure what to believe at this point. They sounded very credible. We'll see if they have the proof to back up their claims...they swear that they do.
Again, I'm (almost) equally bothered that the US media hasn't picked up on this. What gives?
(note: If you click on the little "digg" icon above, you can help spread the word...and then maybe the US media will have to cover what could be "the truth" about her disappearance/death)
I am so amazed that the Arubans know a minimum of 4 different languages: Papiamento, Dutch, Spanish and English. The public school actually teach in Dutch, which is the legal language. Papiamento is the local languange. It's a crazy combination of many different languages, but if you know Spanish and English, you can almost keep up. The kids learn Spanish and English by watching television. My kids have been soaking it all up like little sponges. It's truly amazing.
