Top 10- Favorite Wedding Moments

We had a really great time at our friend’s wedding this weekend out in Ithaca, NY. I’m still exhausted. Here’s a list of my 10 favorite things:

1) The drag queen, Ed, who did my “up do”. He was amazing and I really loved my hair. We gave him free reign to do whatever he thought was best. He chose the perfect look for each of us. I wanted to take him home with me!

2) After 3 weeks of cutting carbs and working out, my skirt fit again!

3) Sage “Chapel” was more like a cathedral and was GORGEOUS!

4) The Best Man was a lot of fun and it was a relief to know that he was about to throw up before giving his speech as well! We took turns looking like Rain Man outside before we gave the cue that we were ready! He did a great job making everyone laugh and I got to follow up with a more sentimental speech.

5) The vodka shot waiting for me after I gave my speech…courtesy of THE Bride’s brother.

6) Cuban cigars and Grand Marnier with THE Father of the Bride, with pictures to prove it!

7) THE Bride never once turned into Bridezilla. THE Groom was away all summer for work and she handled just about all of the arrangements. She was very organized and didn’t get stressed out at all.

8) THE Bride and I out in the courtyard waiting for the ceremony to begin…she needed to “pass gas” and didn’t want to carry it down the aisle with her! You can dress her up like a princess, but she remained true to herself.

9) The Pastor was actually one of their close friends. The ceremony was very personal and touching.

10) Threatening THE Groom as midnight neared the night before, “If I don’t see you tomorrow, I’ll hunt you down and kill you!” Thought I’d throw that in there…just in case. He obviously showed, but I don’t think he was the least bit worried about my threat.

If I ever let you guys read this, congratulations! I love you and hope you remember my toast…”May the light of today’s happiness serve as your beacon as you navigate any rough seas of the future.” THE Groom is a Captain, in case the rest of you were wondering.

In lieu of my own top ten list today, I thought I’d share a web site that I stumbled across. TenMojo.com is a site dedicated to Top Ten Lists. It has an amazing array of topics, from Top 10 Violin Concertos of All Time to The Top 10 List on Ten Most Common Causes of Death in Men.  I found many helpful lists as well as a few silly ones.

(disclaimer: I am not affiliated with TenMojo.com in any way, shape or form.  I am not getting paid to write this "review".  That is not to say that I will not write paid reviews for products in the future.  I do believe in full disclosure.)

Do you have any favorite Top 10 Lists?  Any Top 10 Topics you would like to see me cover?  Please share them in the comments.

Top 10: Random Facts about THE Mommy

1) When I started dating THE Daddy, he told me that he didn’t ever see himself getting married or having kids. We were married 4 years later and had Princess about a year after that…oops.

2) I worked on Martha’s Vineyard for 2 summers while in college. Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen had their wedding rehearsal dinner at the Inn where I worked. I got to meet a ton of celebrities…including then-President Clinton. No matter what you think about him, he really does have charisma.

3) I recently donated peripheral blood stem cells to a 21 year old woman with leukemia.  I was her last hope.  I'm waiting to hear if she survived.  If so, we could meet after a year...if we both consent.  I would love to meet someone considered to be my "match".  I have no idea where in the world she is located, but she's often in my thoughts.

4) We have 2 dogs: Jasper, an Australian cattle dog, and Chester, an Australian Shepard. We’ve had Jasper since he was a puppy. We adopted Chester from a rescue league on New Years Day.  Jasper had a bad reaction to a lyme disease vaccine and we almost lost him. End result after a month in the animal hospital…he had to have his toes on his front feet amputated. He actually gets around pretty good despite everything.

5) I breastfed both Princess and BamBam for about a year each.  They both decided to stop as soon as they began walking.  I both loved and hated breastfeeding and it was bittersweet each time we stopped.

6) My sister is about to marry our high school biology teacher. He was my favorite teacher. And apparently he wasn’t very old…only 8 years older than her. Strange at times, however, I do think they are a great match and I really like him. They made my 15 year high school reunion quite interesting.

7) I coach softball at our old high school. This was my 6th season and we won the state championship for the first time in the school’s history this spring! It had been 20 seasons since I was on the varsity softball team.

8) My second toe is longer than my big toe. Mostly I think it’s ugly. I’ve had people tell me that it’s a sign of intelligence. I also had a male friend tell me that most beautiful people have ugly feet…I think he was hitting on me.

9) My parents divorced when I was in college. My dad literally drove away for South Carolina on their 22nd wedding anniversary.  They are both very happy in their lives and I enjoy the relationship I have with each as an adult.  I don't believe that "staying together for the children" is always the best route to take when two people are so obviously miserable together.  They could have separated many years before.

10) We own a house in Aruba with my in-laws. It’s not a time share. We built a for-real 3 bedroom house with a pool. We were living in their basement apartment at the time.  We love it there and would love to relocate there someday, possibly after winning the lottery.  American school is very expensive.

This is the first Top 10 Tuesday. Before I share my own Top 10 lists, I thought I would honor the greatest “top 10er” of all time, David Letterman.

Princess is going to a ½ day summer camp this year. I was either very tired/punchy that late at night, or this was pretty funny. You decide.

Top 10 Things You Don’t Want to Hear at Summer Camp.
