Snip, snip it’s V-Day!
No, no. It’s not THAT V-Day.
That was yesterday.
Today THE Daddy
takes a big one for the team.
Family has spoken.
They have all agreed,
no more pregnancies for me.
Not so worth the risks.
If we do not feel
our family is complete,
may seek adoption
Frozen bag of peas,
a couple of days in bed.
I’ll be extra nice?
THE Daddy was good
after my two surgeries.
Repaying favor.
BUT evil in me
wants to give him a hard time
if being whiny.
My 2 c-sections…
you can’t possibly compare!
Self: try nice for once.

The Daddy was a trooper. He's a bit uncomfortable right now, but is planning to lay low for the next 24 hours or so. Tylenol, frozen peas and rest this weekend.
Oh, and FYI. I almost broke out into an uncontrollable giggling fit when the doctor started talking about side effects. Apparently one thing that can happen involves a blood clot...which he said causes a mass that will look like a third testicle. I'm sooo mature, I know. I'm sure he was very impressed. I felt like a kid with the giggles in church.
Yesterday, I participated in Worldless Wendnesday with my post: Another Snow Day or Where I'd Rather Be,
Today is Tell Me Thursday...time to take the less out of wordless.
My regular readers already know that this picture is Aruba. This was taken at a beach in Savaneta. It's off the beaten path and is fabulous! It is across the street from our friend's mom's house. We went there about 3 days a week. Pure heaven.
It was our happy place last night while at the ER with BamBam.
He's been hit with a nasty virus and we've exhausted all natural remedies. (I knew I was jinxing myself posting that when I did!) He's had a very high fever since Sunday night with chest congestion. When he stopped eating and drinking for over 24 hours and we couldn't get the fever down with Tylenol, we took him to Whole Life Health and they sent us to the ER to put him on IV fluids. It took them 5 tries to get the IV in! There wasn't a dry eye in the ER by the end. I made him focus on my eyes while we talked about our happy place...Aruba. He's a brave, brave little boy. He's home and the only thing I can get him to eat is blueberries and popcorn. Can't wait to see that diaper!
Our friend, Aram, took these pictures while driving through the cunucu (countryside) in Aruba. It's not uncommon to see wild donkey on the side of the road...and goats...and iguana. I'm going to put the pictures after the jump so that you don't get in trouble at work for looking at donkey porn, or be forced into a premature sex ed discussion with the litte ones. I nearly wet my pants when he first showed me these!
Over the years, we have slowly incorporated more and more “natural” concepts into our daily lives. This post will address the choices we have made in regard to our family’s diet and health care. It is noticeable that Princess and BamBam get sick less frequently than normal. In fact, they have each only been prescribed antibiotics once in their lives. Yes, you read that right. One time each. Princess is 5 and BamBam is 2. Not only do they shake off sickness quicker than other kids in their classes, but more importantly, they rarely need conventional medical intervention. Lately, I’ve had a number of people ask me for advice, so I thought I’d put it all into a post and share.
I love a good margarita.
What defines a good margarita you ask? Well, let's just say that if your only experience with mixing margaritas involves adding Jose Cuervo to a bucket of sour mix, you’ve never had a good margarita.
My personal opinion, based on years of extensive research, Cuervo = toilet water. Yes, even the upgraded, top shelf varieties. BamBam could sum this up for you with one of his favorite sayings, “yuck, yuck says the duck.”
I have made it one of my missions in life to expose every non-margarita fan to a really, really good one. Well, except for one of my friends, Asa…I will never try to convert him to be a margarita drinker. He can drink anyone I know under the table, but tequila = transformation into one mean bastard. To him I respectfully hand a beer. I’ve converted many friends. It’s become a staple at our parties…in fact, we had them “on tap” at our wedding.
MommyCosm’s Mean Margarita Recipe
Homemade Sour Mix
Stir one cup of sugar into 2 cups water over medium heat until fully dissolved. You can use regular sugar, but I prefer raw sugar cane.
Allow to cool.
Add ¾ cup fresh lime juice and ¾ cup fresh lemon juice.
Pour into sealable container. Mix will last up to 1 week in fridge, 1 month in freezer.
Margarita
In a shaker:
2-3 oz. Homemade Sour Mix
1-2 oz. Patron Silver Tequila
½ oz. Cointreau
½ oz.. Chambord
fill with ice
Shake, Shake, Shake and pour into margarita glass with either sugar or salt on rim…I prefer sugar.
Tastes really yummy with my Black Bean Salsa Recipe.
If you’d like a more budget-friendly version, you could use Tarantula Tequila instead of Patron and Razzmatazz instead of Chambord. I do need to warn you that you are compromising a bit on flavor and will have more of a hangover the next day if you start cheaping out on the ingredients.
