LOVE being a coach.
Really don’t like mean parents.
It comes with the gig.
Unreasonable
Expectations frustrate me
Big fish in small pond
You may have been good

Welcome to High School
I hate to cut girls
It is inevitable
It is part of life
Please don’t send mommy
To fight your battles in life
It’s time to cut cord.

We ended softball tryouts last night and had to cut eight girls from the program. Some weren’t too bad, but there just wasn’t a spot for them. We have such a competetive team this year. We won the state championship last year and only graduated 2 1/2 starters. JV has only lost 2 games in the last 2 seasons. We had 51 girls come out for 24 spots. Luckily, the freshmen unable to earn a spot on JV and varsity are put on a freshmen only team. That forces us to cut sophomores and juniors.
I dread the day of trouts. There’s usually one each year who questions why they were cut. I’m OK with that. It's a fair to question.
It’s the psycho mommy in the parking lot ranting like a mad 2 year old that I didn’t appreciate. The exchange of emails that followed was a bit more adult and appropriate.
Please shoot me if I ever become THAT parent. The one who just threw a tantrum in front of their child and sped out of the parking lot with tires squealing…all because said child did not earn a spot on the team. Great example on how to handle the disappointments in life.
SO, I have a question. If you were cut from a team and the coach offered you the opportunity to be the team manager AND to practice with said team to increase your skills, would you take it as an insult? Or would you see it for the opportunity it is…a great way to show the coaches you are dedicated to the sport and a willingness to learn from them. She literally told me that she plays better in game situations than in practice and it would be a waste of her time.
What is wrong with the youth of today? They feel so damn entitled. It really bothers me. How do I raise my kids NOT to develop that attitude?
Yesterday, I participated in Wordless Wednesday with my post: Aruba
Today is Tell Me Thursday...time to take the less out of wordless.
I took these pictures on our weekend getaway to Aruba.
For those of you familiar with the island, the first picture is just past the Marriott on the way to the lighthouse. It's NEVER that rough on this part of the island. The waves were crashing into the shore. The locals claim that this only happens on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. To be honest, all was calm again on Monday, weird. I've been going to the island for years and have never seen waves like this on the high rise section of the island.
You can't really see it on the small picture, but my shadow is in the bottom right corner. You can really see me when it's bigger. Very cool shot.
The second picture...can you believe those colors?!? The picture doesn't do justice even and it's still beautiful. This is what I think of when I close my eyes and try to send myself back to Aruba. Such as, when I'm in line for a latte freezing my butt off here in NH, or when BamBam had to get an IV. It's my happy place.
The others were obviously a sun set. Gorgeous. A sailboat and birds seemed to come around at just the right time to make it post card perfect.
We seem to be one step closer to living there every time we go. The big question is...how many step away are we currently? How many more trips will it take before we take the leap and move there?
Found out that vaccines are not a requirement for school. Bonus. That could have been a deal breaker. The funny thing is that they seemed very surprised by me even asking the question. Not because we don't vaccinate our kids, but because it's a personal choice and shouldn't be forced upon parents as a condition for school. AMEN.
Every now and again I check my stats. OK, I check them daily. Well, unless I am in Aruba. We don't have a connection yet at the house *gasp* and have to seek out free wifi spots, which cuts into serious beach and pool time.
Anyhow. Just wondering, who's the sicko who came here on a search for cotton balls stuck in ass hair????
Seriously? I'm a bit of a free spirit. I have a quirky sense of humor. I cannot for the life of me figure out which post may have led down that path.
And WOW, that seems like a dilemma. My thoughts: What are you using cotton balls for near your ass? And ass hair, ewww. Are you looking for a solution or to commiserate?
Fellow bloggers, want to share any weird keyword searches you've experienced on your blog? I'm feeling a bit tired and sad today. Could use the laugh. Check out the pictures in my last post. Going from THAT to snow last night in New Hampshire SUCKS.
OH...OK, well maybe, kind of, soft of I deserved the search.
I forgot about my Hair Across Ass Haiku. Yes, I know. Early Alzheimer's hits again.
For the record, I am now the #1 search result on google for cotton balls stuck in ass hair. It's a proud, proud day.
(It's Worldless Wednesday. Check back tomorrow for my Tell Me Thursday post with a story behind the pictures.)
